Varanasi

Varanasi, one of the world’s oldest living cities. Varanasi is the cultural capital of India. In Mark Twain’s words, “Benares is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend, and looks twice as old as all of them put together.” According to legend, Varanasi was found by The Lord Shiva and was his favourite abode. In one verse of the ancient religious text of Skanda Purana, Shiva says, ” The three worlds form one city of mine, and Kasi is my royal palace therein. Normally Ganga river flow from North to South across the country but near to  Kasi ,  Ganga river turn about seven kilometre from South to North, That makes special, because In hindu belief south is the symbol of death and north is the symbol of life. So, that gives the sense,  river is a divine and giving from death to life. Varanasi is one of the most important pilgrim centers for Hindu, Buddhists, and Jains.
